
This committee is responsible for recommending the yearly programming topics. This committee is also responsible for securing the appropriate speakers and coordinating the meeting logistics.
This committee is responsible for sending out membership information to interested individuals. The membership reviews all applications and recommends appropriate applicants to the Board for approval. Once approved, the membership committee makes sure that the new member receives a welcome letter and packet. On a yearly basis, the membership committee coordinates the reenrollment of members and paying of yearly dues. Additionally, the committee produces the membership directory.
This committee is responsible for all the non-administrative communications functions for SHRA including web site development and maintenance, newsletter development, advertising, etc.
Professional Development/SHRM Foundation
This committee is responsible for assisting members who are interested in becoming a certified Human Resources professional. This may include coordinating a study group or partnering with an area college for this activity. This committee will act as an outreach program for students who are studying in the field of Human Resources. In addition to certification activities, this committee will act as a conduit for seminar information and liaison with our national organization to further the development of our members.
Our mission is to assist SHRM Foundation in accomplishing goals. The SHRM Foundation maximizes the impact of the HR profession on organizational decision-making and performance by promoting innovation, education, research, and the use of research-based knowledge.
Workforce Readiness includes the preparation of a qualified workforce through the public schools, vocational and technical colleges, adult education opportunities, remedial employee training, and continuing professional development. Such efforts mandate collaboration between business/industry, local, state, and national government, educators, and the local community.
This committee focuses on infusing diversity awareness within our membership by presenting programs and monthly updates from Diversity Inc. and SHRM resources.
The Legislative Committee is charged with getting involved in Chapter governmental affairs, presenting legislative reports to membership, getting local or state legislative leaders to address the chapter or even participating in a "hill" visit!
College Relations/HRCI Certification Committee
This group works with college students that are majoring in the Human Resource field. Collaboration can include participating in HR Games, guiding student chapters and providing subscriptions to periodicals. Additionally, this group will work with HR professionals by providing study/class preparation for achieving HRCI certifications.
